last week my buddy Courtney as well as I went to see the new Helmut Newton display at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni.

There are two hundred pictures covering three legendary books by Newton.  This blockbuster show runs up until July 21st.

Newton permanently altered fashion photography as well as is thought about one of the most prominent professional photographers of the contemporary era.   lots of copy his style, however few have his talent.

It was extraordinary to see all these famous photos in person.  this was shot for vogue in 1975.

My buddy as well as I left the show extremely inspired. Newton was passionate about life as well as his work.  He was shooting up until the day he died at age 84.

His very first book of photography wasn’t published up until he was 56 years old.   By Hollywood requirements that’s close to 100.

I’ve worked for many years in culture that was/is consumed with age as well as making it. I had buddies in L.A. who started getting Botox in their 20’s as well as I’m not speaking only about actresses.

It’s difficult to be in that world as well as not lose your sanity.  when I transferred to Rome, it was a bit easier.  However, there were times I still woke up in the middle of the night in a panic since I haven’t “made it” yet as well as time is running out.  I thought, “I’m done. It’s a wrap.”

Last week I walked out of that display thinking,”later for that nonsense, I’m just getting started.”
